PRACTISE - Spelling Frame

Main Activity

Today, begin by checking that your student can write in the first person by changing the sentences from third person to first person below (first sentence has already been done as an example):

1. The foxes dug a hole underground. (third person)      --> We dug a hole underground. (first person)

  1. They chased the hens.

  2. ‘Please don’t chase us!’ shouted the hens.

Next, access Assignment 7 writing task and ask your student to write the first draft of their story on lined paper. Remind your student to read through their plan they made yesterday and use this to write their draft today. They must include speech and speech marks to show the speech, as this is one of the main skills to demonstrate in this assignment. Spellings and handwriting are not too important in their first draft. Instead, they should focus on the ideas, speech and speech marks, and making sure every sentence makes sense.
