Today's Lesson
Spelling
Take the spelling test by asking your student to write the words they have been learning this week.
Main Activity
Recap with your student on their learning of starting / opening sentences with -ing verbs and prepositions. Choose three prepositions, perhaps that have not already been chosen, and use them to each start a sentence verbally. E.g. Over in the distance, I could smell the sweet fragrance of pancakes. Underneath the stars lay the place where Ogrid was about to begin his dangerous plan.
Then recap on -ing verbs again. Ask your student to use an -ing verb they didn’t write yesterday to put into a sentence verbally.
After the re-cap, ask your student to have a go at a Fronted Adverbials Matching Game. It would be useful to have the main clauses and fronted adverbials cut up before the lesson, as they will need to match up the cards to make sentences.
