WATCH - Best Fireworks Festival "Nagaoka" Nigata JAPAN (YouTube)
Many celebrations include the use of fireworks (Chinese New Year, Bonfire Night, Fourth of July). After you have watched some fireworks from the video for a minute or two, ask your student to brainstorm and write a list of descriptive adjectives and strong verbs about fireworks on a blank piece of paper or blank screen. Write the words under the appropriate columns labelled adjectives and verbs – you may want to use the Adjectives and Verbs Blank Table in resources.
If your student is struggling to think of adjectives and/or verbs, share the Adjectives PDF & Verb PDF resource files with them.
Your student should write a rough draft of their acrostic poem. Refer back to Lesson 2 if necessary.
