PRACTISE - Spelling Frame

Main Activity

Today your student will write a story using the planner from the last lesson. You could model writing the first part of the story using another folktale as an example.

Remind your student that you want to add lots of detail so that the reader can picture the story in their mind. You will be using adjectives and prepositions. With your student, think of and improve adjectives, noting that they tell us more about the nouns, e.g. Once upon a time there were two grumpy old, grey sheep. Anytime you can ask the question, where? Your student can use a preposition to add more detail. Once upon a time there were two grumpy old, grey sheep in a big green field.

Remind your student that this is a rough draft and therefore they don’t have to worry too much about spellings and grammar right now. They will be editing for those things in the next lesson!
