Today's Lesson
Spelling
Review spelling words to prepare for your test at the end of the week. Choose one of the Printables at the bottom of Spelling Frame to practise this week's words.
Main Activity
Today, as part of the writing task for Assignment Seven, your student should get themselves into the role of one of the characters from the story of Fantastic Mr Fox. They could choose to be:
- Mr Fox
- Mrs Fox
- One of the younger foxes
Ask them questions such as: What is it like to be your character? Why? What are your main difficulties? Why? What do you enjoy doing? Why?
Encourage them to use ideas from what they know in the story, plus their imagination to respond to your questions.
They will plan a story from the point of view of one of their chosen character. The story could be a retell of the extracts that they have been reading, from their chosen character’s point of view, or it could be a new story.
Use the Story Mapping Resource to write a simple Beginning, Middle and Ending planning structure. Support your student with making short notes underneath each heading as their plan. Save their plan so it can be submitted as part of the Part C: Creative Writing task in Assignment 7.
