Today's Lesson

Introduction

Say to your student, yesterday we learnt that paragraphs are groups of sentences that centre around one topic or idea. Today we are going to write our own paragraphs.

Main Activity

Using the Hamburger Paragraph Organiser, the PowerPoint slides from yesterday and the Simple and Compound Sentences Worksheet from Lesson 2, you are going to write your own paragraphs.

Using the sentences in the Simple and Compound Sentences Worksheet, write three separate paragraphs (one about Stephen, one about Jill and one about Grandma Judy). You may have to add in or omit words to allow them to make sense. You should model how to do one for your student, do the second one together and then have them do the third paragraph independently.

To help you model paragraph writing for your student, please see the sample paragraphs written for Stephen and Jill in the following document.
