Today's Lesson

Spelling

Remember to keep using the Making Spellings Memorable resource to focus on spellings.

Main Activity

Look again at the shared story map. Identify the problem part of the story. Explain that introducing some speech here will be helpful. Maybe the god will say something to the human.

Show how to add a couple of speech bubbles to the map. Can your student remember how to punctuate dialogue in a story? Remind them and model punctuated dialogue. Explain that you only want one or two powerful pieces of speech in today’s writing.

Verbally rehearse and model writing the first two sentences. Display an example of punctuated speech for your student to refer to.

Your student should continue to write their myth, including some punctuated dialogue.
