Main Activity

Access Pinpoint Comprehension Unit 16. Skim read the questions on the β€˜S’ sheet and β€˜D’ sheet to get the gist / idea.

πŸ“„ READ - Aliens Stole my Underpants

πŸ“„ READ - Pinpoint S Sheet

πŸ“„ READ - Pinpoint D Sheet

Ask your student to discuss the text with you, to familiarise. Agree that this is a poem.

What makes us know it is a poem? There are verses / stanzas, that are divided up and look like separate sections. There are rhyming words: discuss these and find them in each of the stanzas.

Ask: How does the rhyme in the poem help the humour? Change some of the rhyming words for non-rhyming words that keep the meaning. How does this affect our reaction when we read it? Why?

Then your student should answer the questions on the β€˜S’ sheet and β€˜D’ sheet.

Reflect on their answers once finished.
