PRACTISE - Spelling Frame

Main Activity

Explain to your student that this lesson will focus on editing their story. Point out that this is a very important part of the writing process.

Review what was covered in Lesson 3 on adverbs. Explain to your student that you will look over their edited rough draft completed in Lesson 2 and see if there is any room to add in adverbs. Use a different coloured pen to add these into the story.

Now, help your student to find any spelling and punctuation errors. Help them to use a dictionary if necessary.

Finally, ask your student to identify any 'boring' words, such as 'nice'. Can they think of a different word that would be more interesting. Remind your student to look at the Adjectives PDF file to help them with this.

When they are happy with their edits, encourage them to read it out loud and allow them to make further edits if they spot any errors while they are reading it.
