Today's Lesson

Spelling

Take the spelling test by asking your student to write the words they have been learning this week.

Main Activity

Explain that today you are sharing another Roman myth. Ask your student to recap on the key features of a myth. (They are traditional stories, set a long time ago, involving gods. They often give explanations for the way things are, and have magical elements.)

Show the ‘opening’ page of The Oak and the Linden Tree. Discuss which gods are in the story and reflect on Jupiter’s personality. Explain that your student will continue to read the story and discuss and answer questions about the text.

Ask your student to read the next part of the story. They should discuss the questions with you and note down their answers. Note that Reading B is harder, and so please access this resource if your student needs this challenge.
