Today's Lesson

Spelling

Review spelling words to prepare for your test at the end of the week. You may wish to use Spelling Frame Spelling Tiles then Segment Puzzle or the Games to practise them.

PRACTISE - Spelling Frame

Introduction

Start today, as always, by reviewing what your student has learnt thus far. Ask: what have we worked on this week? Can you tell me two things you have learnt?

Main Activity

Next, say to your student: as I mentioned yesterday, today you will be writing a draft of a letter to the author you wrote your fact file on in Week 1. Read through the Letter Planneryour student completed at the end of the last lesson. Add/remove details as necessary. Using the Letter Planner, allow your student to write their letter in draft form. If they want to they could use the Author Letter Template. Alternatively they can create their own letter using lined paper. They need not worry about spelling or grammar when drafting, as this is something they can fix before they complete a final draft. Remind them that they must include an address, date, an opening (Dear ____ ) and a closing (Best, Sincerely).Β Use the checklist to help guide them.

πŸ“„ PREPARE - Letter Planner

For those that need help writing the draft, they can use the Author Letter Template.
