Today's Lesson
Spelling
Remember to keep using the Making Spellings Memorable resource to focus on spellings.
Main Activity
Display the shared story map you did together in Lesson 1. Circle the beginning, problem and resolution parts: each part of the map becomes a paragraph. Explain that you want to add lots of detail so the reader can ‘picture’ the characters, setting and action.
Model to your student how to write the introduction. Verbally rehearse and build rich language and a range of sentence structures.
Be explicit in extending sentences with clauses, e.g.:
Cassia knew Felix was her true love.
Cassia knew Felix was her true love when she saw him in the market.
Insert powerful verbs and adjectives:
Beautiful Cassia knew Felix was her true love when she spotted him in the bustling market.
Your student will now use their story map plans to write the opening paragraphs of their myths. This, together with writing up until Lesson 4 this week, will form part of the writing task for Assignment Six.
Encourage your student to compose and rehearse sentences orally, aiming to develop rich language and some multi-clause sentences. Provide the Conjunctions resource to support and encourage extended sentences.
