Introduction
Ask your student to remind you of what you covered in Lesson 1. You can look back at materials or your KWL chart if you filled one out. This is also a good time to add to the KWL chart if you’d like.
Main Activity
Look at the sample leaflets and ask your student to try to identify the key parts or critical ingredients of a leaflet - a clear, bold heading; the presentation of facts; clear sections and accessible information; clear purpose, illustrations that catch the reader’s eye. Discuss with your student which leaflets they find more appealing or easier to read.
📄 READ - Sample Information Leaflets
Complete the Features of an Information Leaflet worksheet. Students should write the words in the boxes found around the leaflet and then draw an arrow to the proper item.
📄 COMPLETE - Features of an Information Leaflet
Finally, turn to Let's Get Growing! Year 3 CGP Comprehension Book again.
Ask your student to read the text out loud to you and then complete written answers to the questions.
Assignment
Your student will be writing an information leaflet for their writing task in Assignment 2.
The WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) is an optional resource that you may want to use before completing the writing task. It provides an opportunity for you to look through a model answer, and make sure you understand the features that will be looked for by the Wolsey Hall tutor in the assignment. Please watch the video first, as this provides instructions on how to use the WAGOLL documents.
