Today's Lesson

Spelling

Take the spelling test by asking your student to write the words they have been learning this week.

Main Activity

Tell your student that today you will continue your work on paragraphs. The activity for today’s lesson is as follows.

Task 1

Look at the 19 sentences below. You are going to sort them into one of the following categories.

a) The food and drink a person likes/dislikes.
b) Their hobbies and activities they like or dislike.
c) The music, films and TV programmes they like or dislike.

Task 2

Choose one topic (a, b or c) and put the sentences into paragraphs. Write out your paragraphs adding and or omitting words to make it make sense.

Task 3

Redraft the paragraph. Think about which sentences you can combine. Can you use ‘and’ to join two sentences together? Can you put the sentences in a different order to make more sense? Can you put similar sentences together? Do you need to add or delete anything?
