PACTISE - Spelling Frame

Main Activity

Tell your student that, today, they are going to edit and improve their first draft of the non-chronological report they wrote / typed in the previous lesson.

Ask, ‘What does edit and improve mean? Why is it an important skill?’ Remind them that to edit and improve is not copying the piece; nor is it doing the same job again. Encourage your student to use the marking criteria to guide them with how they can improve on their first attempt. Ask your student to read through the report and edit at least TWO sentences looking for spelling, capital letters & full stops, and synonyms (words that are similar, but more interesting).

If you have typed your rough draft, please highlight any edits in red, so that they are clear to see.

Please watch the following video that will suggest some editing techniques to support the drafting and re-drafting of writing.

Remind them that the next lesson they will write the final draft and submit the assignment along with their drawings and labels.
