πŸ“„ READ - Water

Support your student as necessary as they read the text: look up and discuss unfamiliar words and phrases. Ask: is this fiction or non fiction? It is non fiction because it is not a story.

Ask: What text is it? It is an information text or non chronological report, which gives us facts about a certain topic. The text is split up into paragraphs and sections, to help us find certain information more easily, with the help of sub headings. Point these out to your student.

Look at the β€˜Did you know?’ boxes. Ask your student what they think they are there for. They are there as another way to split up all the information to make it easier and more interesting to read. It draws our eye to it, as we are wondering what we can find out.
