Review spelling words to prepare for your test at the end of the week. Use Spelling Frame Practice/Test to learn this week's words. Use the Begin Practice option.
Main Activity
Say to your student that today you will continue to work on your non-chronological report. From last week, you already have the title, subheadings, and a drawing of the animal you designed. Access the Guinea Pig Non-chronological Report and ask your student to observe how the subheadings are structured.
Tell your student that their job today is to first organise their ideas into bullet points under the appropriate subheadings that they created last lesson. They may want to use the Mind Mapping resource for this (put the name of the animal in the middle, and then the sub-headings in each bubble, making sure to leave enough room to write notes). Or, your student may prefer the Planning a Report template. If your student would like more structure for this task look at the Planning a Non-chronological Report Spidergram resource and use this as a guide.
Once they have finished planning what they will write about, ask them to think of any diagrams they would like to include. Make a note of these on the plan.
