Introduction

Today your student will edit the rough draft they have created.

Main Activity

Ask your student to read through their newspaper article and, using the Newspaper Article Checklist and Newspaper Article Rubric, make sure that they have included everything.

Next, have your student read their report to an adult. Then (or while reading if it’s easier) using a different coloured pencil, go through and fix any errors they spot. They should edit at least one sentence looking for spelling, capital letters & full stops, and synonyms (words that are similar, but more interesting). Ask your student to do this on their own, but you should look over it as well and guide your student with any mistakes they have missed.

Check and see if your student needs to make any changes so that the report is easier to understand.

Please take this whole lesson to read through and make the edits as it is an important process for writing. Remember to hold on to this edited rough draft so that it can be submitted as part of Assignment 3.
