Main Activity

2c.pngAccess the Speech and Dialogue PowerPoint and work through the slides with your student. As you work through, make a point of how:

  • the speech marks β€˜hug’ the words that are spoken.
  • when the spoken words end with a ! or a ? there is no need for any other punctuation before the 2nd set of speech marks.
    • If the spoken words end with a full stop, we turn this into a comma before adding the 2nd set of speech marks.

Ask your student to complete the task in the final slide. How interesting and exciting can they make their conversation, and how accurately can they use and apply speech marks and speech punctuation?
