Spelling

Review spelling words to prepare for your test at the end of the week. You may wish to use Spelling Tilesand Word Search on Spelling Frame in order to learn this week's words.

Main Activity

Tell your student that today they will look at different types of diary entries.

Ask your student to tell you what features they think are in a diary entry – write these on a piece of paper. Now look at Recognise features of a diary (select the level appropriate for your student) and talk through the features at the top of the page.

Read through the diary entry together (you may want to take it in turns to read a paragraph each). Then ask your student to underline/highlight each feature in the relevant colour. Allow them time to find the features themselves and then help them identify the rest.

Afterwards, ask your student to test their knowledge of features of a diary with this quiz:
