Main Activity

For the mental warm ups, call out a few random 3 digit numbers and ask your student to add them mentally.

For example:

123 + 200 =

240 + 130 =

Turn to page 82 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.

Explain to your student that multiplication and division by 100 can be done using the same process as with 10, but you move the digits two places each time, again keeping the decimal point fixed in position. Watch How to multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000 (YouTube) to recap if needed.

Ask your student to try and work the calculations out on the page independently, following this principle.
