Objectives
To know the difference between 2D & 3D shapes and to be able to describe the properties of different shapes, demonstrating an improved mathematical vocabulary.

Main Activity
Turn to page 37 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.
Either copy the page, or ask your student to write directly in the textbook.
Explain that the word polyhedron means a 3D shape with no curved faces. Remind your student of the 2D equivalent – polygon – a 2D shape with no curved sides.
Using the information from the previous page (or '3D Shapes' as a reminder), ask your child to fill in the chart.
Then draw attention to ‘Euler’s special number’ and ask your student to calculate this for each shape.

Ask your student to try and complete the page independently, thinking carefully about each shape as they work.
