Main Activity

As a mental warm up, if your student knows some of their times tables, ask them random questions on any of these, including the corresponding division facts, e.g.Β  What is four times 5?Β  What is the product of 3 and 10?Β  How many group of 5 are in 45?Β (You could use Timestables (TopMarks)) Otherwise, continue to support your student with learning the 2 times table.

Look at the two examples below with your student. Run through how frog method can be used to count up or count back.

Turn to page 6 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Watch Frog Method (YouTube) as a reminder if required.

Ask your student to look at the examples then to copy and complete the page, drawing the number lines to help them to create a visual aid for the calculations.
