Resources
Abacus 4 Textbook 1 | Squared paper | 9 Timestable (MyMaths)
Today's Lesson
Main Activity
Choose a larger number divisible by 9 and ask your student to break down the number into ninths. For example:
81
1/9 of 81 = 9
2/9 of 81 = 18
and so on.Β
If your student does not know the 9 times table, write out the table for use in this lesson, but ask your student to continue learning the 6 times table.Β Ask your student about any patterns they see in the digits of numbers in the 9 times table.
Turn to page 27 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.
Play some games from 9 Timestable (MyMaths)
If your student does not know the 9 times table, allow them to use a written out copy of this. Ask your student to copy and complete the questions in Section 1.Β Β
Then have fun investigating the questions for the rest of the page, noting down the answers on the squared paper.
