Main Activity
As the mental warm up, ask your student to recite two different times tables from yesterday, and to answer a variety of random multiplication and division questions on these.
Turn to page 78 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.
This is a fairly straightforward page, as it is revision of place value in 4-digit numbers, which has been looked at before. Ask your student to read the instructions and talk about these together.
It would be helpful for your student to create their own place value grid like the one below.

Once you are happy that they understand the concepts involved, encourage them to work independently and to write the answers directly on the paper.
When they have finished, discuss the ‘Think’ question with your student.
