Main Activity
Ask your child to complete page 80 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1 orally, as the mental warm up.
Turn to page 6 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.
Watch the ‘Word problems’ video which will talk you through some of the word problems to help with strategies.
Now, ask your student to complete the rest of page 6.
Remind your student to read each problem carefully in order to make sure that they understand what sort of question it is and what operation is needed to complete the calculation.
Remind them to include a sentence answer to any word problems and not to forget to include any units of measure with the answer (if required). Encourage your student to try to work independently, but provide help and support whenever it is asked for.
