Abacus 4 Textbook 3 | Squared paper
Today's Lesson
Main Activity
For the mental warm up, call out a few random subtractions which will take the answer into the negative numbers.
For example:
9 β 11 =
10 β 20 =Β
Draw a number line to help if your student finds this difficult to start with. A thermometer is a useful model to use when moving into negative numbers.
Turn to page 69 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.
Following on from the previous lesson, ask your student to draw the shapes on squared paper, keeping the coordinates correct. Use 'Co-ordinates' if needed.
Then, they should draw the shapes in the new position stated and write the new coordinates.
