Today's Lesson

Main Activity

New students should practice the 11 times table.

Call out a few simple fractions where the numerator can be reduced to one, and ask your student to simplify them. For example:

3/6, 2/10, 5/15

Turn to page 62 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Ask your student to read the instructions and to explain to you what the textbook has asked for. Once your student has understood what to do, encourage them to work independently and then to answer the questions below.

If required, use Expanded Addition Methods - Recap (YouTube) or the 'Addition' video (which were introduced in the last few lessons) to recap column methods if required.
