Multiplication & Division

To practise and become familiar with multiplication and division strategies and to establish which method is the most comfortable to work with.

For the next four lessons, think up various 5 digit addition sums to be completed orally, as the mental warm-ups.

Call out about five additions for each lesson.

For example:

52,754 + 150 =

Turn to page 27 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.

Ask your student to look at the calculations and to copy and complete them, using the method they are most comfortable with.

Use Grid Method Multiplication - Recap (YouTube) and Short Multiplication (YouTube) to recap if needed.

Remind your student to answer the word problems with a sentence answer and to include the unit of measure, if there is one.
