Main Activity

For the mental exercises, again ask your student some time-related questions.

For example, conversion of analogue and digital times, 12- and 24- hour time, addition or subtraction of a variety of minutes from specific times.

Turn to page 63 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.

Look at the calculations on the page with your student. Assure them that they are similar to the previous calculations and remind them to keep place value correct. Encourage your student to copy and complete the calculations independently and to attempt the word problems as well. If your student needs the reassurance of checking the problems with you, ask them what they think the problem is asking for. Offer help if necessary.
