Today's Lesson

Main Activity

Turn to page 50 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Further to the previous lesson, ask your student to copy and complete the calculations for doubling the numbers provided.Β Β

Watch the 'Doubling' video, which was introduced in the last lesson, to recap if needed.

Encourage your student to combine two digits of the easier numbers where the tens digit is an even number and the ones digit is less than 5. These numbers should be straightforward to double as two digit numbers. However, if the tens digit is an odd number and the ones digit is 5 or more, your student may feel more comfortable partitioning and doubling each digit individually. Encourage your student to work independently to complete the questions.
