Today's Lesson

Main Activity

As a mental warm up, call out the name of a 3D shape and ask your student to tell you how many faces, edges and vertices (corners) the shape has.

Also ask how many sides a few 2D shapes have.

Turn to page 34 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.

Scan the page, or ask your student to write directly on the page.

Using the same principles as during the previous week, ask your student to calculate both the area and perimeter of each shape on the page.

The first four should be quite straightforward.

Encourage your student to try and work independently on Questions 5, 6 & 7. However, if they have difficulty, offer help by showing your student how to divide the shapes up, as in the previous lessons. Use Area of compound shapes (YouTube) andΒ  Perimeter of Compound Shapes (YouTube) if required.

Times Tables

Remember to login to TT Rockstars to practise your times tables at least 5 times a week.
