Today's Lesson

Main Activity

For a mental warm up, think of some weight measurements in kilograms that involve decimals and ask your child to convert them to kilograms and grams.

For example:

1.5 kg = 1 kg 500 g or 1500 g

Turn to page 51 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.

In the same way as with the previous lesson, ask your student to copy and complete the calculations and problems on the page using the Frog method. Use Finding Change using a Numberline (YouTube)Β to recap if needed.

Point out that it does not matter how large the numbers are, they still need to count up to the nearest 10, then jump to the 100 in 10s. Once your student understands that the calculations are the same as the previous ones, encourage them to work independently to copy and complete the page.

If your student requires a reminder of how to record British money, watch the β€˜Money’ video which was introduced yesterday.
