Turn to page 81 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1 and ask your student to complete the subtraction calculations orally, using any strategy they like.
Turn to page 7 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.
Watch the βCounting in 25s, 50s and 100sβ video to help you to make a start on Questions 1 β 3, so that you have a good basis for the work on the rest of page 7.
Ask your student to read the instructions, and then to carry them out, writing the answers down. Point out the patterns that form each time, in terms of the place value of the digits, e.g. The hundreds digit changes every fourth number when I add 25.
Complete the page together, encouraging your student to talk about the patterns and to try making any predictions as you work through the page.
