Main Activity

For the mental warm-up for this lesson, turn to page 81 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2. As for yesterday, ask your student to complete the subtractions using the counting up Frog method.

Turn to page 6 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3 and look at the pages with your student.

Ask them to tell you what they think is expected from the exercises. Use the links above if required.

Once you can see that your student has shown a good understanding of the requirements, ask them to copy and complete pages 6 and 7 on squared paper.

Do tackle the ‘Think’ problem at the bottom of page 6, for a more open-ended challenge.
