As a mental warm up, choose an activity from Mixed Tables (MyMaths) to practise times tables or Beat The Clock (MyMaths) to practise place value.

Turn to page 16 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Watch this video which talks you through finding 1 more/less than and 10 more/less than a 4 digit number using a place value chart.

This page is identical to page 15, but the numbers now include four digits. However, the page must be completed in exactly the same way as the previous page. Ask your student to draw the chart in the same way, as well.
