To subtract using the column method.

To recap how to subtract by regrouping from columns to the left when necessary.

To subtract by counting backwards.

Further to the previous two lessons, turn to page 78 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Use Expanded Subtraction Methods (YouTube) and Compact Column Subtraction (YouTube) to recap if needed.

Ask your student to complete Q1 – 12.

Now, watch this video which talks you through Question 13 and offers guidance with using drawing to help understand the problem.

Ask your student to complete the questions and to attempt the word problems independently.
