Main Activity

For a mental warm up, again ask some random counting forward and backwards problems in groups of 25s and 50s, but not starting from multiples of 10.

For example:

Count back in 25s starting from 175.

Turn to page 66 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.

This video will show a tip for helping with subtracting from multiples of Β£10 using the column method which avoids lots of exchanging.

Once your student is comfortable with choosing and using a method they’re comfortable with, ask them to copy and complete the calculations on the page. Remind your student to answer word problem questions with both the unit of measure and a sentence answer.
