Main Activity

For the mental warm ups, establish which direction North is. Ask your student to face North, and then call out instructions.

For example:

‘Turn one right angle clockwise – which way are you facing now?’

‘Now turn three right angles anti-clockwise. Which direction are you facing now?’

Repeat this for about ten turns each day.

Turn to page 60 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.

Remind your student about the importance of PUP – point under point. Remind them also to give the decimal point its own column when setting the calculations out. Watch Addition of decimal (money) upto 3:20 (YouTube) up to 3:20 to recap.

Ask your student to copy and complete the additions on the page. Remind them to include a word sentence answer to the problems.
