Main Activity
For the mental warms up, ask your student to count back in ones from 40 to -10.
Then ask them to work out 10% of various numbers.
For example:
10% of 50 =
10% of 25 =
Remind your student that because there are 10 lots of 10% in 100%, we need to divide the number by 10 to find the answer.Β
E.g. To find 10% of 90, we need to calculate 90Β Γ· 10, and so on.Β
Turn to page 72 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.
Look at the pictogram with your student and ask them to explain it to you. Recap using Reading Pictograms (YouTube) if needed.
Using the information gathered from the pictogram, then ask your student to answer the questions.
On the same page, ask your student to create the pictogram for the information provided in the βThinkβ section.
