Today's Lesson

Main Activity

Turn to page 41 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.

Remind your student of the chunking method of division where we start by multiplying the divisor by 10, or a multiple of 10, and subtracting the answer from the larger number, until the divisible number is small enough to appear in the times table. Look back at the examples in yesterday's lesson and use Division with Chunking (YouTube) if needed.

Ask your student to copy and complete the calculations on the page. Remind them that the word problems must have a sentence answer as well as the calculations, and to include all units of measure.
