Main Activity
Continue with times tables for the mental warm ups.
Turn to page 53 in Abacus 4 Textbook 3.
Watch 'Area of a Rectangle'.
Look at the quadrilaterals and ask your student to work out the area of each shape.
These should be noted in the chart below: either copy the page, or allow your student to write directly in the book.
Once the information is complete in the chart, ask your student to answer Questions 3 and 4.
Creating rules that describe patterns observed in maths is a tricky skill.Β Encourage your student to say what they observe out loud, rehearsing and refining their sentence before writing it down.
