Multiplication

To be able to apply knowledge of times tables.

To be able to move between random multiplication tables to answer calculations.

Abacus 4 Textbook 1 | Squared paper | 📄 Counting Sticks | Assignment 1

Call out four single digit numbers. At least two must add up to 10. Ask your student to add them all together, but to add the two bonds to 10 first.

For example:

6 + 2 + 4 + 5 =

Pick out the number bond to 10 first:

6 + 4 = 10

Then, 2 + 5 = 7

10 + 7 = 17

Do this about ten times.

Turn to page 29 in Abacus 4 Textbook 1.

Ask your student to copy and complete the multiplication calculations on the page.
