Turn to page 43 in Abacus 4 Textbook 2.

When making predictions about remainders, encourage your student to think about what they know about each table.

For example:

If a number is divisible by 2 with no remainder, the ones digit MUST be even.

If a number is divisible by 5 with no remainder, the ones digit MUST be a 5 or 0.

Discuss other numbers too.

Watch this video to explore some examples on page 43. It will talk you through some strategies to help when checking for remainders.

Ask your student to copy and complete the division calculations on the page.
