What to Get Ready

Access Stone Age Stu and familiarise yourself with the controls needed to play the game:

ACCESS - Stone Age Stu (Mathsframe)

  • Move left = left cursor key
  • Move right = right cursor key
  • Jump = Ctrl
  • Use club = Space bar

Familiarise yourself with the πŸ“Š Fractions ProblemsΒ and πŸ“Š Fractions Problems - Answers.

Consolidate

Over the next two days, access Stone Age Stu and select the addition skills that you want your student to focus on. Some will be a good chance to revise mental addition skills, whilst others are a little more challenging.

PRACTISE - Stone Age Stu (Mathsframe)

Ask your student to practise some of their addition skills for 10–15 minutes each day.

Main Activity

Over the next two lessons, ask your student to work through the πŸ“Š Fractions Problems with you, encouraging them to draw or use concrete apparatus such as counters and cubes to help them solve the problems.

Use the πŸ“Š Fractions Problems - Answers as a reference to help you model and demonstrate good examples of reasoning to your student. This is a challenging skill, so a little reasoning now and again is good practice for them.

Workbook

To help your student recap upon previous learning from this course, please ask them to complete the activities on page 4 of Abacus Workbook 3.
