What to Get Ready
Print, cut out and shuffle the 📄 Fractions cards set 2 (the fractions on the first sheet are easier than those on the second sheet).
Introduction
Before you start the lesson, watch this Recap Video with your student.
Main Activity
Ask your student to complete 📄 Stationery problems either using cubes or by drawing the correct amount of groups for each problem.
Next, use the shuffled 📄 Fractions cards set 2 to play a game.
- Place the cards face down (either just the first page, just the second page or both sets mixed up together) on the table.
- Player 1 takes a card and turns it face up so both players can see.
- Secretly, work out the answer to the question and write this down. Encourage your student to either use cubes or to draw it.
- Then, compare your answers. If you both agree, you both score a point. If you disagree, discuss the ways of working that you used, to arrive at the correct answer. The player with the correct answer scores a point.
- Take it in turns to draw cards and repeat.
