Today's Lesson

What to Get Ready

Your student will need weights for today’s lesson. They will need a 100g weight and 1kg weight or alternatives, as from Lesson 1 of this step.

Main Activity

What is weight? (YouTube)

Afterwards, discuss the video with your student and ask them what they remember from watching it.

Watch the video one more time to reinforce their understanding.

Next, using two of the spring scales attached to the wall, ask your student to find five objects which are heavier than 100g weight and five objects which are lighter than 100g.

They should record their results on the πŸ“„ Comparing weights worksheet.

Repeat for the 1kg weight.

Finally, ask your student to choose four more objects, weigh them, and write them in order from lightest to heaviest.
