Today's Lesson
What to Get Ready
Print the 1-20 number cards, shuffle place them face down in a pile on the table.
Introduction
Access and watch together the Doubles song links and sing them with your student.
This is another good way for students to remember numbers facts.
Main Activity
Before you start this activity, watch this Recap Video with your student. Use your whiteboard and pen and 0-100 beaded to join in as you watch the video, pausing when necessary.
Consolidate
Ask your student to pick a number card from the pile.
Ask your student if they can double it. Can they show you using their 0-100 beaded number lines and whiteboard how they do this? (If they pick a single-digit number card and know the answer quickly, keep going until they find a more tricky 2-digit number to double.)
Now you take a turn. Keep going until your student has practised their number doubles.
Extra Support
Continue with doubling a 1 digit number before moving on to doubling 2 digit numbers.
Extra Challenge
Make the game as fast paced as possible to ensure that your student really knows how to double these numbers.
Quiz
*All quizzes on this course are optional, they do not count towards your student’s grade. If you decide to do them, they are a chance to explore your student's understanding of different topics.
If your student finds reading tricky, you can read them the questions.
If your student is unsure of an answer, talk with them about their ideas. You can also look back at previous lessons together.*
