What to Get Ready

Access the Nrich website and familiarise yourself with the games and puzzles available.

ACCESS - Interactives (NRICH)

Involve your student in browsing the puzzles with you, and decide together two or three that you would like to work on today.

Some are similar to those carried out this step – you might like your student to consolidate their learning. Or, you might like them to be challenged with something different.

Either way, challenge your student to explore the puzzle and to discuss their strategies with you as they work.

They might even like to create some ‘Top tips’ for a game that they become really confident with!

Main Activity

Work through a puzzle with your student, and encourage them to become increasingly independent.

Challenge them to discuss their strategies as they work, reminding them of the strategies that they have learnt, especially in Steps 31 and 32.

Workbook

To help your student recap upon previous learning from this course, please ask them to complete the activities on page 43 of Abacus Workbook 2.

Quiz

PRACTISE - Step 32 Quiz

*All quizzes on this course are optional, they do not count towards your student’s grade.  If you decide to do them, they are a chance to explore your student's understanding of different topics.

If your student finds reading tricky, you can read them the questions.

If your student is unsure of an answer, talk with them about their ideas.  You can also look back at previous lessons together.*
