Today's Lesson
Introduction
Tell your student that this lesson’s activity is to help them use their addition skills of bridging 10 that they have been learning this step.
Ask them to tackle the task as much by themselves as they can. You will be there to help them if they really need it.
Main Activity
Ask your student to work through this number problem using blank paper or a whiteboard and pen.
Take the starting number of 45
The end number of this puzzle is 80
Which of these numbers can be repeatedly added to get from the start number to the end number?
6, 7 or 8
The will need to try the following repeated additions to see which lands on 80:
- 45 + 6 + 6 + 6 etc
- 45 + 7 + 7 + 7 etc
- 45 + 8 + 8 + 8 etc
Consolidate
EXPLORE - Hit the Button (TopMarks)
Ask your student to select ‘Number Bonds’. They should then select ‘Addition within 20’.
They should aim to beat their score as many times as they play each time!
Remind them to use their bridging 10 skills when needed!
